Habitat generally refers to a place of residence such as a tent, a house, a settlement or even entire settlement areas - as a region used by living beings as place to live. A station on another celestial body or in outer space can also be called a habitat, even if the natural living conditions required have to be artificially created and permanentry maintained.
The division of habitats by roads, routes, walls, river relocation or even deforestation leads to their fragmentation - to decreasing size and increasing isolation.
