In his artistic practice, Moritz Danner operates at the intersection of before and after—a space filled with future predictions, failed experiments, destructive ideas, and unfavorable outcomes. Within this context, he explores fragile materiality and develops expressions that reveal the gaps and blind spots in the states of decay and destruction. He creates his works from fragments of the present—failed attempts, forgotten belongings, and anonymous notes. A cardboard box becomes a makeshift pedestal, a car headlight a relic of past progress, and a thoughtful gesture a seemingly trivial interaction. Through this transformation, silenced events are reshaped into tangible still lifes. The process of decay, where what once aspired begins to deteriorate in reverse, remains ever-present, leaving an unchanging anthropocentric signature. (Moritz Danner)
